Downloading from the Microsoft Store

You can easily do this by going to ‘Settings’, click on ‘Personalization’ and then ‘Fonts’. You will see ‘Get more fonts from Microsoft store’ at the top, click on it and it will take you to the store where you will see a bunch of fonts to choose from.

Downloading from a website

You can as well download from the web, however, you can choose to install it in two ways. First, you might need to unzip the file in case it was zipped. After that, you can install it by right-clicking on the file and then pressing install.

Another way to go about things will be to open up the ‘Control Panel’. then click on ‘Appearance and Personalization’ and from there select ‘Fonts’. Open up the file location of the font you downloaded and then drag and drop in the fonts library in the control panel. Wait for the installation to complete and you can start using it.

Changing your fonts without any download

There is another way to change the fonts on your Windows 10 PC but I will advise that you create a restore point before you go ahead. This because there is a likelihood of irreversible damage if you don’t do it properly. That said, open up the ‘Control Panel’. then click on ‘Appearance and Personalization’ and from there select ‘Fonts’.

Peruse the font types there and note down the name of the type you want. Once that is done, open up your Notepad and copy this there.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts] "Segoe UI (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]

"Segoe UI"="ENTER-NEW-FONT-NAME"

In the Notepad, replace ENTER-NEW-FONT-NAME with the name of the font you picked earlier. Click on ‘File’ at the top and select ‘Save As’. In front of ‘Save as type’, toggle down and select ‘All Files’. Make sure you save the file with .reg ending on the name.

Double click on the file and you might get a prompt which you will click ‘yes’ to. Once it is finished click ‘OK’ to the ‘Registry Editor’ message. Restart your computer and you will see your new font in use.

To change back to the default font, click on ‘Font settings’ in the ‘Fonts’ menu and click on ‘Restore default Font settings’.
